The Longest Stretch is the Ride Home

After an exciting morning of dumping the grey and black water tanks in Tom Crossmon’s sewer (Tom managed to remove a cap that had apparently not been removed in a long time to permit this,) Tom and Scott said goodbye around 8AM and headed South and East.

Tom Crossmon Unsticking a Stuck Cap

Originally, we planned to do the trip in three days/two nights, but Tom suggested we try and stretch the travel each day in order to get home in two days/one night. We ate lunch at Black River, Wisconsin and got not one but two “Cheesy” selfies with the selfie stick.

Finally – a Moose
And a Mouse

We went an additional hour on Wednesday and made it to Cracker Barrel in Elkhart, Indiana (the birthplace of Khan – the Winnebago factory is somewhere around here.)  After a fine meal, we put down the stabilizers, pushed out the bump-out, drew the shades, and started camping for the night.

On the way here, we, for the first time, added DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) to the Sprinter’s 6.6 gallon tank, which had not been filled since we purchased the unit about 2000 miles ago.  This involved finding the tank, and pouring DEF into it.  Turns out DEF comes in 2.5 gallon boxes, and the worst place to buy one is at a filling station ($25 or so.)  Apparently a good place is Walmart ($11 or so,) something we will remember in the future.
